Sustaining local government capacities and expanding best practices in planning and implementing cross-sectorial actions to address malnutrition and food insecurity
The Project “Sustaining local government capacities and expanding best practices in planning and implementing cross-sectorial actions to address malnutrition and food insecurity”, is the next intervention supported by UNICEF Albania in the framework of the JNProgram.
Following the previous project and based on its results, PfD proposed this second project intervention which aimed at assuring the sustainability on the management of nutrition and food security situation, through the dissemination of best practices and cross-sectoral actions.
In this framework the following actions have implemented:
– Starting of Local Action Plans implementation through the realization of 15 concrete interventions included as priority in the Local Action Plans for the food security and nutrition issues;
– Involvement of other 10 local government units (Commune Koplik Qender, Commune Gruemire, Commune Gur i Zi, Municipality Vau Dejes, Commune QErret, Commune Caje, Commune Kalise, Commune Bushtri, Commune Mergegaj, Commune Fierze) and capacity building to around 130 specialists (representatives from the health, social assistance, education and agriculture sectors and civil society representatives of these areas) for issues related to nutrition and food security issues management;
– 10 new Local Plans for the Management of Nutrition and Food Security drafted for the new 10 local government units;
These actions involved 6 Experts engaged for the technical assistance for the implementation of the local actions plans in the 15 Communes; 6 Trainers engaged for the capacity building process in the 10 new communes; 10 Local Facilitators trained and engaged for the coordination and facilitation of the process of local plans drafting and capacity building;
